Place to Reside

I walk this path of trees and leaves,
in the attempts to hide my heart from thieves.
Yet there you stood assured and strong,
placing it gently into your palm.
Captivated from there on out, 
like a child I felt the need to jump and shout.

No longer did I feel the need to reside,
in those small hallways within my mind.
Each section divided by doors,
each door closer towards my beating core.

As I held it and brought it to my chest
I placed it within my opposite breast
As you jump for joy the gentle clatter
Of rustling leaves on the floor scattered
Natures maze; Your hide out shattered
I; Your Protector - Only you matter

My body frail from sickness and time
I stand firm and strong due to my mind
It knows your heart is fragile at best
My body replies with a need to protect
Your captivation is mirrored by my own
When I gaze into your eyes, I’m home

The trees no longer a maze to hide
Just a place for us to now reside <3
