Stranger Tides

“Oh you’ve found me here it seems,
Where moonlights perched upon the seas
And waves crash upon the shores
   I’ve gazed out for hours or more;
Since the start of the suns retreat.”

My visitor with a heavy sigh
Did not seem pleased with my reply

“I’m a victim to the midnight breeze
It makes me tremble in the knees
And fills my lungs with new found care
The horizon with it’s starlit glare
I gaze on back and the earth seems pleased.”

My visitor in need of a reboot
Looked puzzled as if it would not compute!

I stepped over to the side
Where my shoe impressions in the sand
Were proof that on this earth I stand
Though as quickly as day or night
We flee this world and that, is life.

“Beneath me is proof that I exist
I’ll walk away and the gentle wind
Or perhaps done in by a crooked wave
My proof - it shall be washed away
If only my evidence could swim…”

Confronted by the skeptics eyes
I knew my message reached it’s demise

“Our lives are short and with no guide
It’s as certain as vision to the eyes
We see the skies and grass below
We feel the earth’s breath travel slow
And at any moment we could go blind.”
